THE TITECH 2016
TiTECH2016 (Titian Teras English Championship2016 is an extracurricular which its members are the students of SMA Negeri Titian Teras Haji Abdurahman Sayoeti Jambi. English Student Association (ESA) itself consists of 65 active member total currently, and 3 major divisions: Debate, Speech and News Casting. As one of the oldest, and one of the most outstanding extracurricular in SMA Negeri Titian Teras HAS Jambi, English Student Association (ESA) provides a chance for every of our member to develop individual and team competence to develop their ability by conducting several beneficial events.
This TiTECH 2016 is one of the events that TITIAN TERAS EXPO presents this year. TiTECH 2016 is compilation of scientific competitions in linguistic with English as the communicational media. The purpose of this event is to provide participants in improving their talents, skills, and abilities through a competitive and sportive atmosphere of competitions. To achieve this purpose, we present you The TiTECH 2016 that will be held together with our annual school event (TITIAN TERAS EXPO 2016): TITERS HAS English Championship 2016 on 15th_ 19thMarch2016 with “Let’s Go Down in History” as its theme. This theme is chosen because TiTECH 2016 want to motivate you as participant to compete and let go your fears and we as committee will make The TiTECH 2016 be a competition never forget by all of participant and committee. You can make this competition as one of your attempt to achieve your dream.
The TiTECH 2016 has 6 competitions for high school student throughout region of South Sumatera. The competitions are: Debate, Speech, Scrabble, and Storytelling, Newscasting, Song Cover. It’s an honorable for us to hold The TiTECH 2016 throughout region of South Sumatera for this year.
Thus, we humbly invite you to participate in this region-wide, prestigious, and challenging event. Enclosed with this invitation are registration forms and further explanations about The TiTECH 2016. We hope you can join and be a part of The TiTECH 2016 so that we can help developing the usage of English in daily life of the students.
THE COMPETITIONS
1. DEBATE
A competition where two opposing teams bring arguments of their own to a motion. The format in this competition is Australasian Parliamentary System. Each team consists of 3 speakers who will carry out a 7 minute speech each, continued with a 4 minute reply speech. The purposes of this competition are to stimulate critical thinking, developing skill in delivering good and structured argument, to widen knowledge in various fields, and to integrate the spirit of a healthy competition in every participant.
2. SPEECH
An individual competition where the participants are required to give a speech based on the essay they have wrote before. After giving speech for maximum 10 minutes, they will be asked questions based on their essay or speech. The aspects judged are the content of speech, grammar usage, pronunciation, mimic, and their way of presenting the speech. The aim of this competition is to raise self-confidence and to develop the ability to write their ideas and convey it orally.
3. STORYTELLING
This is an individual competition where the participants are required to tell a story based on the chosen story. The story will be sercing only maximum 15 minutes (preliminary round). The aspects judged are the content of speech, grammar usage, pronunciation, mimic, properties and their way of serving the story. The aim of this competition is to raise self-confidence and to develop the ability to express their expression and convey it orally.
4. SCRABBLE
This is group competition, where each group consist of two player. This word game in which score points by forming words from individual lettered tiles on a game board marked with a 15-by-15 grid. The words are formed across and down in crossword fashion and must appear in a standard dictionary. The general time will be given 15 minutes.
5. SONG COVER
This Competition is competition where the partisipants sing a song that already prepared by commitee
6. NEWS CASTING
This is an individual competition where the participants are required to read the news chosenby the committee, just as professional anchors do. It also consist the weather forecast. Thepurpose of this competition is to enhance the importance of speaking English in a well manner, also to find potential as well as talented future news presenters.
Rules of TiTECH 2016
A. Debate
1) Every participant should return the registration form one day before Technical Meeting.
2) Every participant as to pay registration fee before specified time.
3) Every participant has to fill attendance list half an hour before the competition begins.
4) The tournament system of debating championship is Asian Parliamentary.
5) Participants come from Senior High School level.
6) Other rules will be explained later.

2. THBT the countrys that have high number of LGBT will not survive
3. THW ban photoshoping human being in ads and magazines
4. THW not provide any religious education in school
5. THBT economics has more influence in our life than politics
B. Speech
1) Every participant should return the registration form one day before Technical Meeting.
2) Every participant has to pay registration fee before specified time.
3) Every participant has to fill attendance list half an hour before the competition begins.
4) Participants come from Senior High School level.
5) All participants use their own school uniform.
6) All participants are disallowed to bring visual tool.
7) Speech themes determined by the committee.
8) Other rules will be explained later.
Timing of Speeches
- Speeches will be six to eight minutes. A participant will get minus points that will be added to the total point achieved if the speech is less than six minutes or more than eight minutes 30 seconds.
- Upon being introduced, the participant shall proceed immediately to the speaking position. Timing will begin with the participant’s first definite verbal or nonverbal communication with the audience. This usually will be the first word uttered by the participant, but would include any other communication such as sound effects, a staged act, etc.
- Timers shall provide warning signal flags to the participants, which shall be clearly visible to the speakers but not obvious to the audience.
• A green signal will be displayed at one minutes
• A yellow signal will be displayed at six minutes and displayed once again at seven minutes
• A red signal will be displayed at eight minutes and remain on until the conclusion of the speech.

C. Storytelling
1) Each school just could send maximal 3 participants for competition.
2) Participants come from Senior High School and Junior High School.
3) The Participants is an Individual.
4) Story is chosen by each participants with theme “Time Travel”
5) Each participant will be given 7 - 15 minuteto serving the story.
6) Every participant could bring properties.
7) Competition will be held in SMAN Titian Teras HASJambi.

9) Every participant should return the registration form one day before Technical Meeting.
10) Every participant has to pay registration fee before specified time.
11) Every participant has to fill attendance list half an hour before the competition begins.
12) All participants should submit the story script tothe committeeIn Technical Meeting
13) Participants are allowed to use cosmetics properly.
14) Every participant should be present punctually (at least 1 hour before the competition start). We don’t compromise with all of the lateness. The name of the participants only be announced 2 times and if the participant absent, he/she will be disqualified.
15) In preliminary round, the maximum duration of each participant performance is 15 minute (include opening and closing) less than or more than fixedtime, your point will be -50.

Less than or more than the fixed times (7 – 15 minutes): - 50 points
Timing of the storytelling
- A green flag will be displayed at the 7th minutes of the performance
- A yellow flag will be displayed at the 9th minutes and 30th seconds of the performance
- A red flag will be displayed at the 15th minutes of the performance. That sign means that the limit times is over.
D. Scrabble
1) Every participant should return the registration form one day before Technical Meeting.
2) Every participant has to pay registration fee before specified time.
3) Each team consist by 2 people.
4) Each person must be use school uniform
5) The tournament system use 3 preliminary, with semifinal and finally round
6) Each school just could send maximal 3 teams for competition.
7) Participants come from Junior High School / Senior High School level
8) Competition will be held in SMAN Titian Teras Has Jambi.
9) Every participant has to fill attendance list half an hour before the competition begins.
10) Other rules will be explained later
11) Every participant should be present punctually (at least 1 hour before the competition starts). We don’t compromise with all of the lateness. The name of the participants only be announced 2 times and if the participant absent, he/she will be disquallified.
Special Rules
1) The general time is given 15 minutes. And for each person is given 1 minute to put the word to the scrabble board.
2) There are 5 kind of words that couldn’t be put in the game, that are:
a. The shortened word
b. The name of the countries
c. The repetition word
d. If V1/V2/V3 have been use, so never repeat to put the word that are homonyms
e. Never bring s/es to the word that have been put in the barby the same meaning, except New + s = News, or Zoo + m = zoom
3) No communication between the team when the competition started
4) We use Oxford Dictionary
5) Will be 5 preliminary. If on 1st prelim you’re lost, but on 4th other prelim you’re win, we will calculate your point. 4 teams with the highest point, will go to finally round.
6) Participants considered as "PASS" if:
a. The participant not “tide” a letter
b. When time runs out and the participant not “tide” a letter
c. When participant do "change"
d. When participant challenge a word, and the word was exist in the dictionary, the participant who challenged will be considered as pass and his/her score will be decreased
7) If a participant passed 3 times in a row, so the participant can’t continue the game. But the other participant still continue the game.
E. Song Cover
1. Every Particapant Is a Junior Highschool or Highschool student and must bring student ID card Etc. While register
2. The peformance can be solo, duo, or gruop
3. The registry fee will’nt be returned if the participant resign
4. The comitee will provide standart musical instrument and sound system.
5. The participant must bring their own extra musical instrument and also their own accsesory that their required
6. The participant must choose a song from the list
7. The cover song must be perfome with their own arransemen
8. The participan can’t performe the song with its original version
9. Maximum performing time is 7 minutes
10. The particpant must arrived at least 30 minutes before the competition begins
11. The particapant must confirm their present to the commitee

F. News Casting

5) News scripts provide by the committee.
6) Every participant has to wear formal apparel. Blazer is a must, and all participants must not wear jeans in this competition.
7) Every participant has to wear pantofel shoes, and must keep his/her appearance neat and clean.
8) Participants are allowed to use cosmetics properly.
